My puppy wish!

Well like any other gal i had a childhood dream....to own a dog! I have asked my parents in every way possible (Beg, plead, threats) but nothing worked, not that they didn't like dogs or anything, they just said dogs are not for our household so instead they got me fishes!! then recently, couple of weeks back to be precise, i heard the tiny little bark. I jumped off my bed and went to my balcony to see who this new visitor was. Down below in my street running around the red leash that was tied to its tiny little neck was a cutest thing i have ever seen, a Labrador pup brown color. After admiring the view from my balcony i gave a huge sigh and wished again(I do that whenever i see a Dog!) for the thousandth time for that puppy to be mine, but it was my neighbor's. They are like world's or maybe just my street's biggest animal lovers. They already have a couple of other dogs, foreign breed, and few cats and fishes too!! This little pup seemed to be a new addition to their animal family....i mean animal loving family!!

That very evening i again heard its tiny joyous bark and went to my point of view (my balcony) only to find my parents playing with the puppy! Seeing me my dad called me down to see the puppy, since it was the only chance am likely to get i rushed downstairs to play with it. The puppy's name was Brute! I was shocked, the dog and its name were miles apart, if it were my dog i would have called him Buddy or Benny not BRUTE!

But slowly i changed my mind, as the pup definitely can be a Brute. It mostly tried to chew off its leash or use nearby toes as a tooth filer!! But it was still gorgeous. When it didn't let go of my mom's toe she teasingly asked "Brute, would you like to come with us?" The dog thumped its tail in a sort of approval i suppose but the surprising thing was the owner, my animal loving neighbor aunt bubbled with the same eagerness. "You may take him, for free!" she announced, much to my astonishment. It was too good to be true, I mean there is no way my parents would take the dog, free or not! But instead i heard my mom say "If its OK with you...I would love to take him in" and looked at my dad who nodded his approval.

Ok, I thought this is most definitely a dream, ill wake up any minute. (I forgot to pinch myself and verify, what can i say i was in SHOCK!) So i just trailed behind my mother only to find something pulling me back. I looked to down to see that Brute bright red leash was in my hands and the dog most certainley wanted to play. I somehow managed to drag him to our house and my mom announced "Brute, this is your new home!" Brute took off to sniff out his new territory and promptly decided that the clean, sweet smelling, air condition room as its privated LOO! "Oh no!" my mom wailed and looked at me with a Its-yours-too-clean look. Since am the dog fan in the house its is my responsibilty. My mom never gave me any dirty jobs before in my life but she abosolutely didn't make a move to clean the puppy droppings!!

After just one night of entertaining it, feeding it, cleaning after it, I realised i was not good at the job. The neaxt day all of us would have to work and I can just imagine the havoc Brute can create if left alone. The next morning I woke up early to take Brute for his morning walk so he couldn't dirty the house
anymore. I clearly heard my mom mumbling something about rain and me getting early but i pretended not to hear! Once outside he never wanted to get in. He tore at every toe or shoes he came across the road, nearly got himslef run down by a bus (That's when i completey lost it!) that i decided it wasn't my kinda hobby! I tied him up and he started to whine and I couldnt tie him anymore! My mom gave me a knowing look and we both gave the dog back to our neigbor. We loved him but we didnt have the time to care for him.

When i Got back back my dad had a "I told you so" wriitten all over his face and i realised why they said a dog was not for our household.

Moral: When your parents say you are to avoid certain things, belive them and listen. Its quite hard to accept but the fact is they have experince and wisdom, while we have only dreams and wishes! Sometimes I wonder if my parents got that dog to teach me a lesson or something!
